E3 2010: Recent Earthquakes linked to “I Am Alive”

I Am Alive

So it just hit me right now, as I sit at my desk drinking Earl Grey tea and reading all of the news coming out of E3. The earthquakes last night in southern California were… are you ready for this? A viral marketing campaign for I Am Alive, Ubisoft’s new disaster survival game.

This is brilliant! Think of all the time and money Ubisoft had to use in order to cause a 5.7 earthquake! And now everyone at E3 is thinking, “Oh, if there were to be another earthquake, a really bad earthquake, how would I survive?” And then they see a trailer about a man trying to escape an earthquake and think, “Ah! I should buy this game, which looks as if it could possibly show me how to save my life!”

The viral marketing campaign is a conspiracy that I will never be able to prove, but I Am Alive is legit. Ubisoft released a trailer recently, and it shows absolutely nothing that makes me want to buy this game. The premise of a disaster survival game sounds fascinating, but I need to know more before I get on board with this one.

Keep on gaming, people! (It could save your life.)
