FTG Gamerguide: Stones Of Barenziah Locations For Skyrim’s “No Stone Unturned” Quest

With Skyrim currently on everyone’s brain, gamers have set everything aside in hopes of finishing as many quests as possible. Some of the obscure, miscellaneous quests are a little tougher than others though, including the “No Stone Unturned” quest to find the Stones of Barenziah. The goal is to find 24 hidden gems throughout Skyrim and return them to the Thieves Guild for probably one of the most rewarding prizes in the game. The trouble is in finding this little buggers, as the quest tracker can’t even manage to tell you where to find these. That’s where I come in; I got the goods and am willing to share the location of every stone in the game. Naturally these can be picked up in any order, so don’t feel obligated to start at the top of the list.

1. Markath, Treasury House: Sitting next to the bed in the Master Bedroom on the left.

2. Markath, Understone Keep: In the left side locked room in the Dwemer Museum, sitting on the table. Note: if you’re cunning enough you can do this with a few lockpicks and a decent amount of stealth. Otherwise you’ll have to go kill a spider for Calcelmo to get the key.

3. Yngvild (East of Dawnstar): In the small room behind the throne, sitting on a  table.

4. Dainty Sload: On the table in the Captain’s Quarters

5. Solitude, Blue Palace: In the Jarl’s bedroom on the bookshelf.

6.Solitude, Proudspire Manor: In the master bedroom. You have to purchase the property for 25,000 septims before you can get in, or if you’re a PC player using the console command ‘unlock’ after clicking the door in the console menu works too.

7. Thalmor Embassy: During the ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ quest while sneaking around Elenwen’s Solar a stone sits in one of the bedrooms upstairs. If you missed it during the quest you can go back in through the Reeking Cave.

8. Hobs Fall Cave: When entering what looks to be the sacrificial chamber take a left down the path. It’ll be sitting on the bookshelf in the necromancer sleeping area.

9. Dead Crone Rock: after filing through all the forsworn and the hagraven up top it sits on the alter in front of the Word Wall.

10. Rannveig’s Fast: When you reach the Word Wall in the end of the cave fall into the trap, lock pick your way out, kill the necromancer, and find your stone on a table next to the alchemy station.

11. Fellglow Keep: On the counter in the workroom at the top of the front foyer.

12. Windhelm, House of Clan Shattershield: Upstairs, in the left bedroom sitting on the bookcase.

13. Windhelm, Palace of Kings: Go through the first door on the left leading to the upstairs and head straight back to Wuunferth the Unliving’s quarters. On the table to the right behind the large skull sits a stone.

14. Stony Creek Cave: First right, then left and sitting on the table in the room at the end of the hall.

15. Ansilvund: Basic dungeon crawl with the Stone at the end. One rotating pillars puzzle in this dungeon; the code is Eagle, Snake, Whale, Snake.

16. Sunderstone Gorge: Fight your way to the dragon wall. The Stone sits on the alter in front of it.

17. Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: When first entering the Sanctuary the first door on the left past the map with the dagger in it, Astrid’s room, on the dresser.

18. Pinewatch, Pinwatch Bandit Sanctuary: Kill the three bandits sitting at the table, or sneak past, go up the ramp and there will be one more bandit in front of stairs. kill him off open the door at the top, and take a right. Pick the door and the Stone is on the bookshelf.

19. Riften, Mistveil Keep: In the Jarl’s bedroom on the bedside table.

20. Black Briar Lodge (the one outside the city): Up the right stair case in the master bedroom.

21. College of Winterhold, Arch Mage’s quarters: To get into the Arch Mage’s room you need to either BE the Arch Mage or use the ‘unlock’ console command on the door if you’re a PC player. The stone is on the right side of the room and to the left of the bed.

22. Whiterun, Jorrvaskr: Sitting in Kodlak’s bedroom on a table.

23. Whiterun, Hall of the Dead: In the main catacomb room at the bottom of the left side stair case resting in one of the wall crypts.

24. Whiterun, Dragonsreach: On the bed side table in the Jarl’s bedroom.

After gathering all 24 of the gems you return to Vex, who tells you that the next step in her master scheme is for you to recover the Thieves Guild’s paragon crown that the gems fit into. Just follow the quest tracker and the rest is cake. Enjoy your new perk, Prowler’s Profit. This doesn’t show up on any of your menus, but the affect of Prowler’s Profit is a sharp increase in the rate at which you find gems in dungeons and on bodies. Around 75 gems can be found in a single dungeon with this power in effect.
