The folks at Barnes and Noble are hooking you up big time for Mass Effect 3. Starting now through February 20th, if you preorder the Art of the Mass Effect Universe artbook from Barnes and Noble, you’ll get an extra code for some fresh new content for Mass Effect 3. Specifically, you’ll gain the Collector Assault Rifle, giving you quite a 1-up on the Reaper invasion. Unfortunately, the code will not work on PS3, only on Xbox 360 and PC. There seems to be no reason why, but that’s unfortunate for the folks who will buy the artbook with the Collector Rifle in mind.
Mass Effect 2 took a huge step in the downloadable content realm, but a lot of it was post launch. Mass Effect 3, conversely, has a seemingly overwhelming amounts of bonus content, retailer-exclusive armor, and pre-order guns, diversifying how your Commander Shepard will stop the Reaper menace.
