All hail the King of Kickstarter and legendary founder of Double Fine studios, Timothy Allan Bartholomew William McGillicutty Schafer the Third (but you can call him Tim)!
For our monumental 100th episode of Front Towards Gamer Radio, Shanghai sits down with Double Fine’s chief to talk about what it was like rubbing elbows with heavy metal legends like Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Halford for Brutal Legend (METAL!), whether or not Double Fine will be doing another “amnesia fortnight” following the success of Double Fine’s downloadable titles, and how exactly you follow up making three million dollars on Kickstarter for a $300,000 project. And yes, I ask about Psychonauts 2.
In honor of having the SCUMM engine wizard on the show, Gamergirl excitedly banters on spoiler free about the first episode of Telltale’s new take on point-and-click adventures with The Walking Dead, Episode 1: A New Day, Batman5273 tries to sneak in talking about his favorite new Facebook game, Marvel Avengers Alliance, while Shanghai is baffled at the low scores people are giving Prototype 2.
Also, want to take a minute to thank everyone who came to our aid and got us our “100th Episode” present of getting us over the hump of 100 5-star reviews on iTunes. We won’t need a gift receipt for this present, it fits perfectly!
(Editor’s note: the odd phone call at the end of the interview is an obscenely drunk Batman5273 calling TokenGirlSTFU at 4AM at PAX East in Boston and demanding sexual favors in exchange for the backpack she left in the car we were driving.)
