Here we go again. Syfy has cancelled yet another one of their scripted television series. After four seasons with the network, Sanctuary has been put to an end by the genre favorite network. This is an announcement that I’m sure really didn’t come as a shock to anyone, especially if you’ve been following how the network has been treating the show since bringing it to the network from its first home on the web. According to TV by the Numbers, the show has been averaging a 0.4 viewership average in adults 18-49 since it returned in the fall. Given how low that is for the cable network, even on a Friday, you can imagine that this was a long time coming.
If you were hoping that the show was going to get a wrap up after the ending of season four, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Given the low ratings share, I doubt that even an aggressive fan campaign would bring a favorable outcome. I guess all we can hope for is for Sanctuary to return to the web to bring a conclusion to the series. Sad day for sure given the advances this show provided for CGI filming.
