*Sigh* …yep, that’s Japan.
About two years ago, I wrote my first article for Front Towards Gamer about a strange Japanese brawler called Twinkle Queen. I thought my face-palming “really, Japan?” moments would stop there, but the newest trailer for Senran Kagura Burst has proven me wrong.
For those that don’t speak Japanese (which, by the way, includes me), Senran Kagura Burst is an all-girl brawler for the 3DS. Now, I’m not opposed to all-girl fighting games; Skull Girls is doing fairly well, in fact. But where Skull Girls was created by a tournament-going Street Fighter fan, Senran is a frankly ridiculous sexually exploited “bitch brawler” (I’m totally trademarking that genre). A fighter in a short skirt? That’s fine, but do we have to see up it every time she attacks? Another fighter in a – shockingly – modestly long dress? Also fine, except…wait a minute…was that a machine gun penis!?
Well, Senran Kagura Burst releases in Japan on August 30, but don’t expect to see it here any time soon. If you’re that desperate to play such a game as this, you can always import it.
