New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer Features Bruce Campbell

The Amazing Spider-Man, game, film, Bruce Campbell, voice acting, extreme reporter

What would a Spider-Man film be without a game being released as a merchandising tie-in right before its debut? With The Amazing Spider-Man set to hit theaters on July 3rd, and the game coming out next week (June 26th), it comes as no surprise that some more details would come out to whet the pallet of potential fans. I think Beenox and Activision hit it big with the release of the newest behind-the-scenes trailer of the game. This new video features the voice behind the boastful tutor and challenge setter: the Extreme Reporter, played by Bruce Campbell.

With the Extreme Reporter, Campbell returns to a role similar to the ones he provided for the game spin-offs from the Sam Raimi directed trilogy of Spider-Man films starring Toby Maguire. Campbell brings back his signature comedic styling that taunted the previous incarnation of Peter Parker. From the skies, the reporter, a former MMA fighter that gained his glory though trash-talking his opponents according to Campbell, uses his attitude and mouth to set Spider-Man on various challenges and objectives throughout the game.

“The Extreme Reporter is very similar to me in that it’s the intelligence and the wit that is the same. So really we have a lot in common. We’re really simple people that who don’t think that highly of ourselves other than the fact that we’re awesome,” says Campbell.

I wish that Campbell would have been able to play another cameo part in Mark Webb’s reboot of the series, but at least we can see him return to a familiar role in the game. Don’t forget to check out the film when it hits theaters. Make sure to come back to Front Towards Gamer to check out our review of The Amazing Spider-Man before you do!

It’s a shame he is not in the new movie. But I guess with Raimi out, so was Bruce
