The Philadelphia Comic Convention takes place each year in June, with hundreds of visitors from the local Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. As with most Wizard World conventions, there is plenty to take in. As a family event, many people come to take in the convention experience, with large crowds of like-minded individuals coming together in one place.
For collectors and enthusiasts alike, some of the rarest and unique items can be found at a convention – if you look hard enough.
Not everyone is there to buy. The chance to mingle with writers and comic artists also offers unique opportunities. Besides the chance to have artists sign their work, some will create custom works as well.
Special Guests at this years Philadelphia Comic Con included Stan Lee, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina) and Bruce Cambell, and as a special bonus five of the ‘Star Trek’ captains (William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula) were together in one place for the first time.
While many celebrities are hidden away by curtains – requiring special badges to just shake hands – some can be found mingling with the crowds such as Kevin Brown (DotCom from 30Rock).
