Remember when Robert Bowling left Infinity Ward back in March? Turns out he’s been a busy boy, as the former Call of Duty hype man has started his own developer – Robotoki. The studio’s first game, Human Element, will launch exclusively for OUYA, the Android-based console currently making huge waves on Kickstarter.
“Robotoki is the first studio to commit to building a game exclusively for OUYA: an episodic prequel that will set the stage for his eventual release of Human Element in 2015,” said OUYA CEO Julie Uhrman, in a Kickstarter update. Kickstarter supporters will get sneak peeks at Human Element throughout the development process.
As for the game itself, it’s hard not to draw parallels to The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s latest PS3-exclusive adventure game. A post-apocalyptic zombie game featuring a young girl and an older man (complete with pump-action shotgun)? Hmmm. Still, we’ve yet to see any actual gameplay and Human Element is still three years out, so we’ll go easy on you for now, Mr. Bowling.
At any rate, competition always benefits the consumer, so it’s good to see OUYA start to gain traction among developers.
