Out now and free, patch 1.1 “GogoRoboPowerPatch” has come to Awesomenauts bringing two new characters and a bevy of fixes.
Awesomenauts, in order to form a more perfect union, does ordain and establish a new patch to help amend a glaring oversight. Well, they’ve added a female character. (I always hear a chorus in my head when such things happen, as it does translate into afterlife brownie points for the developer.) They’ve also added a new (male) alien character that fights by launching magical cats, I suppose that one was also an eventuality. Coco Nebulon, alien femme fatale, rides a hoverboard with a blazing trail that scorches her pursuers as she shoots ball lightning for her attack. Derpl Zork is essentially a slug in a mech suit. In addition to his cat launch attack, he has a snare trap, which while in stationary mode becomes a nuclear bomb. (Source – XBLA Fans)
As for the fixes, issues addressed include characters and leaderboard corrections, for more specifics see the official forum post here
Here are some official details from Ronimo, which are pretty funny actually:
Hamburg, 12.07.2012 – Today, developer Ronimo Games and publisher dtp entertainment admitted that something is wrong with the MOBA game Awesomenauts. No, not the ratings, which have been outstanding. Nor is the player-base flawed in any way – there have been a breathtaking 1.5 Million matches played so far. It is that specifically the characters are extremely unbalanced.
After an in-depth analysis of all matches played and all characters chosen and taking into account which skills were bought, and how they affect the balance of the game in which way, the conclusion has been clear. After intense discussions and scientific elaboration, in a reductionist approach, the imbalance could be broken down into a still complex mathematical formula:
Male characters = 6 vs Female characters = 0Game Designer Jasper Koning demanded: “We need them girls in game, plz.”
DTP Entertainment added: “Aye. Good idea.”So it has been settled that with Coco Nebulon the first female Awesomenaut will be released with the upcoming patch. With her psycho-electric melee abilities she will be a fierce enemy for the boys. Ronimo also decided it would be cool to have another character added – once they were at it. His name is Zork. Derpl Zork. The nephew of Blabl Zork, president of Zork Industries, Derpl lacks his uncle’s business-smarts. In fact he lacks any kind of smarts: His IQ is even rated under the level of plankton in the official galaxial IQ test.

Since the best things in life are for free, dtp entertainment and Ronimo Games, after evaluating the patch, decided it is – hands down – the best possible, were bound to this promise and are happy to announce that the patch with all the additional content, including the first female Awesomenaut, will in fact be for free.
