Rocksteady Studios announced the next title in the Arkham series will in fact be a prequel. Moreso, it will be set in the 1950′s Silver Age era, which could encompass a bevy of DC superheroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and - yes - even Aquaman. If anyone’s a betting man, it’s probably safe to say they will also start building up hype for a Justice League film.
Unfortunately, some bad news out of the Bat-camp this last week, as Paul Dini revealed he’s not coming back as the head writer for the game:
Kinda hoped I’d be doing another Arkham game in London during the Olympics.Esp, as I had a good source for tx.Ah, well.

For those who may not be familiar with Dini’s work, here’s a quick summation: writer on the 90′s animated Batman series and creator of Harley Quinn! Currently, he’s busy working on Ultimate Spider-Man with DC’s comic rival, Marvel. Dini and Rocksteady haven’t revealed who’s taking the reins from Dini, but it’s safe to say whoever they are, they’ve got a huge quill to handle. The Arkham series is one of the biggest franchises to launch this generation, and has done wonders for the superhero genre.
First Mark Hamill retires as the Joker, now Dini steps down. Needless to say, the next Arkham title has a lot working against it from an internal development standpoint, but I think we can trust Rocksteady to deliver the bat-goodness when it arrives!
