UPDATE: August 11th, 2012:
@GamerGirlTalk on Twitter will be running the event with @TurboBison and @PNeafsey. They will be announcing the Tinychat address when it goes live this evening. Head over there to get matched up! We’ll be joined by teams from Charisma Plus 2, Legion of Honor, Dedicated Servers and the Epic Games Forum Community (EGFC)!
On Saturday, August 11th, from 6PM-12PM EST, we’ll be holding our monthly charity raffle/gamernight, focusing on, of course, Gears of War 3. At the end of the evening at 11:59 PM, we’ll draw the winning ticket number from the tickets sold for the Triforce Marcus Fenix bust. You do not need to be online to attend the raffle; just donate and we will notify the winner(s) of their prizes, and then they have 24 hours to respond or we draw again!
For those of you interested in getting involved, we will be holding a Tinychat open Saturday evening for those of you folks on PC, PS3, or folks who want to take a break from Gears of War 3 for a bit with some friends. See below for more details!
This has been an incredible month for Operation Supply Drop, Front Towards Gamer’s charity wing that builds video game care packages for troops deployed to Afghanistan. Our Gears of War themed care package, code named CRIMSON OMEN, is going to a unit in Afghanistan and getting Epic Games behind us in supporting getting the word out has been amazing.
But now, a new challenger steps in to up the ante…significantly.
Seeing as we were going for a full court press for Gears of War, I heard the folks over at Triforce put together some pretty amazing Gears of War inspired replicas. I decided to ask to see if they wanted to help out with this Gears themed package, and they donated one of their amazing Marcus Fenix busts for us to raffle off for our monthly gamernight/ charity raffle! Obviously, HUGE thanks to Drew over at Triforce!
TriForce proudly presents the officially licensed Gears of War 2: Marcus Fenix Epic Scale Bust, masterfully sculpted by Erick Sosa, art director of TriForce, and paint-mastered by highly respected Hollywood special effects creature creator, Jordu Schell. The end result is the most authentic and accurate portrayal of COG military hero brought to life! The Marcus Fenix Epic Scale Bust is hand-finished and hand-painted to precision quality. Intricately crafted and cast in polystone, it stands a massive 32″ in height and weighs in at 25 pounds! Own this authentic piece of video game history as part of a Limited Edition of 500 pieces worldwide.
So, you’re asking yourself, “How do I win this majestic Marcus bust so I can impress that girl living down the hall in my apartment complex?” Simple: buy a raffle ticket. Or ten. Buy as many as you want, there’s no limit.
Tickets are $3 a piece, and can be “purchased” by making a donation to Operation Supply Drop. Three ways to get your tickets:
1) Use the Chipin link on the top right corner of the front page of Front Towards Gamer.com. OR
2) Use the Chipin link on the top right corner of the front page of Operation Supply Drop.org. OR
3) Make a Paypal donation to donations@operationsupplydrop.org.
The bust has a dollar value of $350, so every $100 over that we raise, we’ll raffle off another piece of swag earlier in the night. Of course, it won’t be as good as the Marcus Fenix bust, but depending on how much we take in as far as donations, we’ll do what we can to get some good stuff your way.
So there you go, gang. Donate a couple of bucks, help out soldiers fighting the Global War on Terror against the REAL Locust threat out there, and get a chance to win yourself a pretty amazing piece of Gears of War memorabilia.
