Following the bankruptcy of 38 Studios, the state of Rhode Island has seized all of its’ assets including the Kingdoms of Amalur IP. Worry not, this is not going to be the first instance of a state attempting their hand at game creation, the Rhode Island government intends to sell of all of the 38 Studios assets to help pay back the $75 million loan.
According to the Bloomberg article that revealed this information, if the state and bank don’t move fast, people appointed to disposing of the non-salvageable office supplies may destroy computer equipment housing the valuable files. Apparently because people don’t understand that computers house important things.
It’s sad to see 38 end up like this, hopefully the Amalur IP and the assets find a good home.
