Two New Transformers comics from IDW Publishing and Hasbro

Article by FTG Contributor Jatosin

Robots being “more than meets the eye” have been fighting a civil war since the eighties, but their popularity has not been as fever pitch as it is right now. IDW Publishing and Hasbro are looking to cash in on that popularity with the release of two new Transformers comics.

The first of the new comics is titled Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and the second is Transformers: Rage of the Dinobots. Together these titles surround the upcoming title from High Moon studios and published by Activision Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

“This will be the first time comic readers will see the Dinobots in the prime world” said IDW Senior Editor John Barber.

Fall of Cybertron is going to serve as a sequel to the video game of the same name to be released later in the year. It will go into the origin story of the Dinobots, as they fight their way through Shockwaves forces. The Transformers: Fall of Cybertron series will start in August in digital form only, and will be released on a bi-weekly schedule. There will be a total of six comics in this series. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be available at ComiXology and other digital distributors for $.99 each for an 8-page web-comic.

Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots will to serve to link the events of the video game with the Cartoon Network show Transformers Prime. The comic will also introduce the dinobots to the Prime World. With Optimus and the ark long gone the Dinobots are forced to confront Shockwave again. This mini-series from writer Mike Johnson (Star Trek) will be available in November 2012 for $3.99 for a 32-page full color comic.
