Hidden Path Entertainment, the developers behind Defense Grid: The Awakening and the hotly anticipated Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, have set up a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their newest title, Defense Grid 2, and they need your help. Or, at least they should be thanking you for their support. Defense Grid: The Awakening is a strategy title available for PC, Mac, and XBLA, which got awesome reviews from critics, including a 90% from PC Gamer. With all the sub-par games that get sequels these days, surely this deserves it.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Kickstarter is a crowd-funding site which presents to the public ideas that normally may never have seen the light of day. For a certain amount of money, the developers of an idea reward early adopters with gifts. In the case of DG2, they have some serious stuff lined up for those that had a chance to support it. For the minimal donation of $15, you get a Steam key for Awakening, along with any other content that they make through Kickstarter, including DG2. Some of the higher level gifts (around $300-500) are sponsored by brands such as AMD and Razer, huge players in the PC gaming scene. They’re giving away graphics cards, keyboards, mice, and more with huge donations.
However, like we said before, this project was worthy of our help. By the looks of it, the company had expected to make $1 million off of this, and so far they have surpassed $270,000 ($271,727 at the end of the Kickstarter), passing up their goal of $250,000. The original is a fantastic game, there is potential in the sequel. Thanks to your help, it looks like it is going to happen. Not to mention, $15 is a solid game deal.
