Gamescom was a big win for Sony in many ways, especially for Vita owners. For months, we’ve been looking for justification for our purchase, and now we’re getting it. We wanted to be able to play PSone games, and we’re getting it. We didn’t like having to buy games twice (one for PS3 and one for Vita), and Sony thought of a way around that too. Finally, we wanted some new IPs, and we got a few. Case in point, Media Molecule’s new upcoming title Tearaway.
Tearaway stars Iota, a paper-mache creature with an envelope for a head. Within his (letter) head is a special message. This message is different for every player, which is very cool. To get this unique message, you and Iota need to make it to the end of the game. Now here’s another interesting part about Tearaway, and this just by what we’ve seen in the trailer, but it appears you don’t actually control Iota directly.
Using all the interactive controls and features of the Vita (Including the mic, both touch screens, and the camera), you can effect the environment of the world to help Iota with his delivery. Blowing into the mic can create a storm, pressing on the rear touchscreen causes your fingers to punch through the earth like skyscrapers, and you can use the camera to give things new backgrounds.
Tearaway has no release date as of yet, but it certainly has our interest. What do you guys think? Will Tearaway be a must have for all Vita owners? Sound off on the comments and let us know.
