Fans of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost can finally stop holding their breath as Universal Pictures has given the go-ahead to the trio to start working on their newest film, The World’s End, which will serve as the finale for the trio, starting with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Wright has been in pre-production for the film before the film was announced and will beginning shooting in the UK in October.
Both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright penned the script for the movie, which follows a group of five friends 20 years after a bar hopping escapade that ended in disaster for all. Now, with the friends reunited, one of them is determined to complete the pub crawl that they could never finish. As they try to go through the slog of drinking and bar hopping again, the friends try to deal with ghosts of their past and present while seeing that the future is the real problem, not just for them, but for the world as well. Getting to the famous World’s End Pub may be the last thing on their lists by the time they get there.
Focus Pictures will distribute the Working Title / Big Talk Pictures film in the US, while Universal will handle all of the other major distribution areas.
