Nintendo Power Says Goodbye

Mega Man X

Nintendo Power, one of the longest running game magazines in the industry, is shutting its doors. Ars Technica reported that the magazine that has been in continuous publication since 1988 will cease publishing sometime within the next few months.

This era of diminishing print publications for the video game industry stems from readers growing reliance on online media, such as websites and digital publications. We’ve already seen the end of influential publications like GamePro, and now Nintendo Power. Future Publishing told Ars that Nintendo was always “difficult to work with” and was not interested in taking back direct control over the magazine, nor did they care to pursue a digital form of publication.

Future Publishing informed Ars Technica that the remaining staff of Nintendo Power will be moved to other projects within Future Publishing, including GamesRadar and MacLife magazine.

Check out the gallery below for a few of the more memorable covers from Nintendo Power.

True story, the Guile cover one has a letter from a very young me in it. I proclaim Guile to be the best character in SFII, and look who they chose to be the cover boy?
