During their recent press conference, Nintendo was a bit unclear on what games would specifically be available on the Wii U’s day of release. The only games that they would confirm for sure to be out with the system on day one were Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U. Things have changed, it seems, and Nintendo has announced 15 games so far that will be available at the same time as the Wii U’s launch. Check out the full list below.
- Assassin’s Creed 3 (Ubisoft)
- Darksiders 2 (THQ)
- Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two (Disney Interactive)
- ESPN Sports Connection (Ubisoft)
- Game Party Champions (WB Games)
- Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft)
- Madden NFL 13 (EA)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii U (Nintendo)
- Nintendo Land (Nintendo)
- Rabbids Land (Ubisoft)
- Scribblenauts Unlimited (5th Cell)
- Sing Party (Nintendo)
- Tank! Tank! Tank! (Namco)
- Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013 (Ubisoft)
- ZombiU (Ubisoft)
As you can see, Ubisoft seems to be leading the charge in releases on the Wii U early on with titles like ZombiU, Just Dance 4, and, of course, the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed 3, which should be quite a gem on the fledgling console. However, THQ is also throwing their hat into the mix with the well received Darksiders II. Other big names such as EA and Namco will also be making appearances, and few other developers as well.
All in all, combined with the entirety of the launch window through March, the Wii U’s launch seems to be strong enough to gain it its own footing in the console wars. Time will tell what else we can expect from Nintendo’s upcoming console.
