Dragon Age III delayed, and being developed for next gen?

Dragon Age, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age III. Dragon Age III Inquisition, EA, EA Shanghai,

EA seem to be taking the next title in their successful but lauded/loved Dragon Age series by not only delaying its launch, but also looking towards next gen consoles for its release.

Scope of the DAIII has been chaged [sic], which will target next gen platform [sic] and will be postpone [sic] to 2014.” This quote is from an EA Shanghai level designer and posted on his LinkedIn page. The delay is interesting, but that line about “next gen” really intrigues me more! Before we all collectively think that means the PS4/Xbox 720 are in lines for a Dragon Age at launch, it very well could mean the WiiU is getting Dragon Age III. I mean, it is a next gen console, even if it doesn’t look it!

Of course, we shouldn’t rule out Dragon Age III: Inquisition as being a launch game for the next Sony and Microsoft consoles, but if industry rumors are to be believed, their new consoles are expected in 2013, not 2014, so it might not make launch day… But launch window is a possibility.
It’ll be interesting to see how EA handles this, especially since a lot of fans of Dragon Age were slightly burned (no pun intended) by DA II’s quick turnaround launch.
