A mysterious title from Japan? You don’t say. And it’s manga-based? Next you’ll tell us that our website is actually…wait, this isn’t a private blog? Better report the story then.
Project Versus J was revealed by All Games Beta via a scan from Shonen Jump, and we know next to nothing about it. Based on some translations, though, we know it’s going to be the “ultimate [Shonen] Jump game.” The scan features Luffy (One Piece), Goku (Dragon Ball Z), and Toriko (Toriko), three characters from popular series, so a mash-up of sorts is expected.
For those not in the Japanese loop, Shonen Jump is a weekly manga magazine. It’s the one responsible for globally popular hits like Naruto (“Ew…”), Dragon Ball Z (“It was cool when I was in middle school!”), and Death Note (“That was some good sh*t.”). In the past, they’ve put out games like Jump Super Stars, which was basically Super Smash Bros. with a load of popular manga characters…and it was awesome! We can only hope that Project Versus J is baked from the same cookie dough.
We know little about Project Versus J (though the “versus” certainly implies another fighter), so it’s speculation time. Leave a comment and tell us what you think this game could be, and let us know what other characters should appear in Project Versus J…whatever it turns out to be.
