ELO Hell: League of Legends: This Week in ELO Hell (Week 4: May 2nd-8th)

league of legends, riot games, elo hell, ranked match, bronze, solo queue, bronze 5, bronze IV, bronze 3, bronze III, bronze V, bronze 4, leona, support,

Another week, another week of banging my head against the keyboard in solo queue ranked matches in League of Legends.  ELO Hell week four continues, but with a winning streak, taking me out of Bronze 5 and 50+ points into Bronze 4 tier.  Well, don’t take my word for it, let’s go to the tape!

May 1st, 2013, Match 31:
That’s odd, thought I wrote about my other win today.  Well, bottom line, played as Leona support again, and after a failed enemy invade, we managed to pull a nasty start into a real win.  Our mid Fizz, who decided not to talk to anyone in champion select and just picked mid, was a force of nature (thank god).
Bronze V, 100 ladder points, 15 wins, 26 losses, ONE WIN

May 1st, 2013, Match 32:
Nervous for this match, I call “fill” and of course get stuck on support.  Little do they know I’m happy to oblige.  Team does decently enough, but enemy Fiona was snowballing and we couldn’t stop her.  Even grabbed a Baron and still only killed three to their two.  One more ace and boom.  Good match, but I didn’t do anyone any favors…kept missing my zenith blade stun throw.
Bronze V, 100 ladder points, 15 wins, 26 losses, ONE WIN, ONE LOSS.

OF NOTE:

Set up for third match. Team makes choices.  Third pick takes Swain mid after clearly calling jungle.  Fourth guy who had picked jungle loses his mind, tells the whole team he’s feeding.  Four seconds from the match starting, someone from the other team dodges. Thank christ.

May 1st, 2013, Match 33:
HOLY SHIT, THAT WAS AMAZING. How in the hell did we win that game? Nexus turrets down for 20 minutes, we “iron curtain” defense lined them and turned the tide. Holy shit. Some of the craziest playing I’ve seen in a long time. PROMOTED!
Bronze IV, 0 ladder points, 16 wins, 26 losses

May 2nd 2013, Match 34:
Our Ashe wasn’t good. Played bottom lane, started out with brawler’s gloves? Unless I’m missing something ADC 101, that’s not a long sword or a pair of boots and red pots.  Well, I’m not exactly sure what happened. I couldn’t stop the Ezreal/Rammus bum rush, and Ashe would shoot the tank.  I was trying to use my stuns to keep Rammus from rolling/taunting Ashe back into the fight, but no dice.  Game went horribly on all lanes, surrendered shortly after 20.
Bronze IV, 0 ladder points, 16 wins, 27 losses

May 3rd 2013, Match 35:
Well, that was horrifying.  Had been dinking around with capture software, when I loaded up the game client, the whole thing went to shit on me.  Shut everything down as quickly as I could, alt-tabbed back into game SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ENEMY JUNGLE.  It was like waking up in a bad dream.  I was THAT GUY! Meanwhile, when I was able to get my shit fixed (about two minutes in), I was getting rolled because I’d increased my camera scroll speed, turned on a bunch of widgets in the options menu to outline smartcast targeting, it was a mess.  Waited until I died, turned everything back the way it was, and managed to help limp along to victory.  Fortunately, our Khazix and Jax carried the team, and I apologized profusely.  Although it didn’t seem to matter, most of the team was chattering in Portugese the whole time.  Swell.  Well, at least I have a buffer to keep from getting dropped back into Bronze 5 now.
Bronze IV, 17 ladder points, 16 wins, 27 losses

May 4th 2013, Match 36:
Absolutely dominated early game, going 8/1 in about 10 minutes…we were coasting to a quick, decisive win…until our 12 year old Lux disconnected and caused a mild panic.  We kept giving them ace after ace and we were getting pushed back to our inhibitor turrets…and then Lux came back in and saved the day.  Even then, it took a little bit of struggling as they caught up as far as kills, but we eventually wore them down in 55 minutes.
Bronze IV, 41 ladder points, 17 wins, 27 losses

May 5th 2013, Match 37:
Another early domination game, we started knocking over turrets early and offen, to the point where the Caitlyn I was guarding ran to help gank mid because we’d pushed bottom so hard.  Our Leona/Cait was crushing their Varus/Thresh combo.  Their Thresh kept pink warding everything, which must have been fun for him.  Pink wards everywhere.  Our team fights were atrocious; if we had to go 5v5, we started losing our advantage, but we kept knocking over objectives in the meantime.  NASTY Baron fight where we chased them off Baron, myself and Trundle stayed to try and capitalize while their Lux was picking at us at range from the other side of the bush.  Not pretty, but we got it done.
Bronze IV, 57 ladder points, 18 wins, 27 losses

May 6th 2013, Match 38:
We got dominated right out of the gate, just watching the deaths mount up.  Our team had to switch up because the guy who called top was whined at by someone who claimed ONLY to know top.  The top switched to ADC, which was nice of him, but it was just a miserable match all the way around.  I didn’t even get my Leona being second pick, the other team grabbed her first. We surrendered at 20, but I wasn’t exactly doing my team any favors.  Soraka is great for sustain, but jesus, if the rest of the team can’t kill, keeping them alive is useless…
Bronze IV, 43 ladder points, 18 wins, 28 losses

May 7th 2013, Match 39:
Started off great, our top and mid lanes were dominating while my Leona and Trist at bottom were holding them off at 0/0/0 forever.  Then came the team fights, which I failed miserably at.  I was underleveled and tried zooming into back lines only to get squished by an overfed Xin/Pantheon.  I played like shit, the team was falling apart, and their team took Baron twice, but we managed to hold them off at the Nexus turrets, wiped them out, pushed mid, then wiped them out on their platform.  GG, but BOY I didn’t deserve that win. The Jarvan top and Trundle jungle and Diana mid were yelling at each other constantly, primarily because Diana was split pushing and Trundle was farming while we were team fighting, while J4 would dive headlong 1v4 with Cataclysm.  Diana carried our asses, I really need to look into buying her…
Bronze IV, 67 ladder points, 19 wins, 28 losses

May 8th 2013, Match 40:
Tough match to end on.  Team captain instalocked ADC after someone else called it, then captain proceeded to call him his bitch and told the other guy not to speak to his “superior” in that way.  Other guy eventually gave up and last minute picked Xin Zhao jungle, thank god.  The ADC Miss Fortune ass did actually pull his weight and we proceeded to wreck bottom lane, but the other two lanes didn’t pull their weight.  I just felt the game slipping away as they rolled around and crushed.  Very frustrating, especially for as well as I did with my Leona.
Bronze IV, 53 ladder points, 19 wins, 29 losses
