Under the Dome Finds Its Writer

Have you had enough of Stephen King media projects flying around lately? No? Well that’s good because it looks like Showtime is throwing another our way. DreamWorks will be producing the adaptation of Under the Dome for the cable channel. The acquisition came back in 2009, as the studio purchased the rights to the work shortly after release of the novel. What’s taken so long to get it going, you might ask? Apparently, when the show was announced in August, it seems that they had still been searching for a writer to cross the bridge from print to script.

Eureka’s Fifth Season to be the Last – Another Syfy Error

On the eve of Syfy’s original winter showcase, I’m again reminded of how I loathe the decision makers of the cable channel. Not just because of some of the eye-gouging films and reality TV shows they feed to hungry science fiction loving nerds, but because of the continual mistreatment of their popular franchises. Instead of nurturing their shows and allowing them to rise or fall on their own, they hack them off seemingly out of nowhere. While they may give their show runners the leeway to do fun things like actually being able to produce Christmas themed episodes, they force the shows to take a bow before it is really their time to move on from the lime light. The most recent show to have the proverbial axe brought down upon it by the hands of poor judgment happened to be Eureka.
